1. Download WhatsApp
iPhone users:
Open the “App Store” app on your home screen. Type “Whatsapp Messenger” and press search in the app. Whatsapp should display after pressing the button (It has a green icon with a white phone in a speech bubble). A blue “GET” button should be right of the Whatsapp icon. Click that. It should ask for your Apple ID when clicked. Enter your ID. Your phone will prompt you to double-click the home or side button after confirming your ID. The Whatsapp app should then appear on your home screen. Let it download before using.
Android Users:
Search for “Google Play Store” on your home screen. If you don’t have a Google account and can’t access the app, it may ask you to sign in. If you must sign in, follow the steps. If you’re signed in to Google, the app should be accessible. After opening the app, type “Whatsapp Messenger” and tap the search button. Then, Whatsapp should appear (a green icon with a white phone in a speech bubble). A green “Install” button should be near the Whatsapp symbol. Click that. After then, the app should appear on your home screen. Wait for it to download before using it.
2. Set Up WhatsApp
Iphone:
Clicking Whatsapp will require you to accept their terms and conditions. Press “agree and continue.” It will then ask if you want WhatsApp to send you notifications. Press allow. You will then see “Enter your phone number.” It then lets you choose a country. Make sure you choose your home country. Then enter your phone number beneath the nation selection option. Touch “Done” on the top right of the screen. The number you entered will then be verified. Double-check and press “yes.” If not, press “Edit” to fix it. Whatsapp will send a code to your messaging app to validate your number. Enter the code into WhatsApp after receiving it. You will then see “Restore from icloud.” If you created a WhatsApp account with the number entered before, agree to restore from iCloud to save your data. If this is your first WhatsApp account with this number, click “Skip restore.” You will now see “Edit Profile.” Enter your name under “Your name (for notifications)” and press “done.” To upload a profile photo (optional), click “add photo.” Click “take a photo” to use a camera to snap a photo of yourself or whatever you choose. The second option is “choose photo.” If you want to use a photo from your camera roll, click here. Selecting the photo takes you to a page where you can move and scale it. Touch “choose” on the bottom right of your screen when you’re satisfied with its position. Choose “Done” from the top right of your screen. WhatsApp may send another message afterward. Press“next.” After that, it will explain terms of service and privacy again. Select “agree” in the bottom right. You must also hit “confirm that you are at least 16 years old.” WhatsApp will ask for permission to access your contacts. Press “Ok.” You can now access WhatsApp’s displays. Pressing the camera button in the centre of your screen will ask WhatsApp to access your camera. Click “Ok.”WhatsApp will then request photo access. Open “Allow access to all photos.” Then, it will request microphone access. Click “ok.” Close the camera by clicking the top right “X”.
Android:
Whatsapp will prompt you to consent to their privacy policy when you click on it. Press “agree and continue.” To conveniently contact/message friends and family, it will ask for access to your device’s contacts, images, media, and files. Click “continue.” Next, it will request access to your device’s images, media, and data. Click “allow.” It will then request contact access. Click “allow.” The top of the screen will state “Verify your phone number” after this. It then lets you choose a country. Select the country you live in. You can now enter your phone number under the nation selection option. Then touch the green “Next” button at the bottom of the screen. Verify your entered number. Double-check and press “yes.” If not, press “Edit” to fix it. Whatsapp will want to check your SMS messages so it can automatically detect a verification code to validate your number. Click “continue.” It will then ask if you “allow whatsapp to send and view SMS messages?” Click “allow.” Whatsapp will send a code to your messaging app to validate your number. Enter the code into WhatsApp after receiving it. You will now see “Profile Info.” It will ask for your name and optional profile photo. Enter your name where asked. To upload a profile photo (optional), click “add photo.” Click “take photo” to use a camera to take a photo of yourself or another profile photo. The second option is “choose photo.” If you want to utilize a photo from your camera roll, click here. This opens your photo gallery where you may choose use. Selecting the photo takes you to a page where you can move and scale it. When the photo is in place, touch “choose” on the bottom right of the screen. Select “Next” from the bottom of the screen. WhatsApp is set up.
3. Use WhatsApp
Iphone
Go to the chats tab (second from right on the bottom) to add a contact. Click the pen-on-paper icon in the top right corner. When there, touch“new contact.” Now you can add someone’s phone number and their name. Click “save” to add them as a contact. Then press “Done.” Those that restored their iCloud may already have Whatsapp contacts. If your phone number is new to WhatsApp, you must manually add contacts. When you touch the newly added contact’s name, WhatsApp opens a chat window where you can message them. Click the + sign on top of your keyboard on the left to send them photos, videos, and files. Add new contacts and view all messages with current contacts on the Chats Tab. When you are in the chat, you can click the video call icon (a small camera) on the top right of your screen to video call the contact. When you touch it, it rings till the caller answers. When they pick up, their face fills the screen and you may talk. Four buttons are on the bottom of the video calling screen. You can end the call by pressing the red button on the right. Left of that is the mute button. If you want to stay on the phone but make sure the other person can’t hear you, hit it. Pressing the same button will let them hear you again. Left of this is a button that turns your camera off so the other person can’t see you. If you want them to see you again, press the camera button again. The last button flips the camera. Your phone has 2 cameras. One front and one back. The front one is usually used for video calls. This button will flip your camera so you may show them stuff on the back. Once you’re done showing what you wanted the person you’re talking to see, press the flip button to show your face again. To make a regular call, press the button next to the video call icon when in a WhatsApp chat. This lets you call them normally. The bottom of the screen has four call buttons. You can end the call by pressing the red button on the right. Left of the end call button is the mute button. The left of that is a button with a camera. This button is pointless as it’s not a video call. The last button is the speaker. Since you’re not video calling, you must put the phone to your ear to hear. If you hit the speaker button, their voice will be louder and you can communicate without touching the phone. The status button on the left displays your contacts’ added status. The plus sign next to your profile image lets you add a photo from your camera roll to your status. You can also input your status by clicking the pen symbol. The settings tab is right. Here you may manage account settings. Changing your name, profile image, or bio is one example. Bios are brief statements you can include on your profile.
Android
On the chats tab, click the green button at the bottom to start a chat. By clicking it, you may view your contacts, add new ones, and create group chats. A group chat has several contacts. Touch “new contact.” to add contacts. Touching that adds a person’s first, last, and phone number. Click “Save” to make them a WhatsApp contact. Then press “Done.” Click on a contact to talk with them after adding them. You can video and audio call that person and send messages, pictures, videos, etc. There are many tabs on top of the screen. First, the chats tab displays all your text conversations. The status tab is next to the chats tab. Here are 24-hour public messages from contacts. The status page lets you add your own status by clicking the + symbol next to your profile. Call tab follows status tab. Here are all your previous calls on Whatsapp.
